Major Shaitan Singh's role is not limited to those hours of the battle, it started from the day he reached Rezang La... He relocated the 3" Mortar section according to his experience, which fired 993/1000 bombs in the battle and I believe it claimed most chinese lives. He got the defences prepared at tactical locations, including the flanks which thwarted the Chinese in initial attacks. For your knowledge I'll tell you, he was the only officer in 13 KUMAON with prior experience of service in Ladakh and knowledge of mountain warfare. During the battle he made sure that whatever resources they had could be utilised. He was in contact with his platoons and obviously he did not order or offer a retreat which you guys claim.
All the officers in Ladakh had pistols, so did Major Shaitan Singh, PVC. But according to survivors he had a LMG by his side at the end. Just to prove your agenda you cannot tarnish the image of a National Hero.
All those who died in the battle trusted their commander and on his command they sacrificed their lives the survivors never disrespect him, because they know what he did and how he did!
