The Coco plant, groundnut pyramid, palm oil production, and textile industries across the nation were enough to sustain every Nigerian in the 1960s to the late 90s. Observation: but in another school of thought, our population was lesser then compared to now. So, it was easier for resources to circulate. Another argument here is that the capitalist-leaning ideologies in the 2000s by deregulating the market and privatization of our resources led to economic neo-colonialism, which sabotaged our means of production. But the population growth theory says that the Nigerian total fertility rate is way high (5.0 births per 1,000 women), which means Nigerian families marry and birth excessive, making it hard for families to earn a good standard of living to sustain the large family size. The issues are both political and economic, and we addressed them.
