Halloween at home
Halloween is 9 days away. @Tesla Halloween Mode adds the Fright Show, a light show you can schedule in Toybox, plus a Trick or Treat mode for parked cars. We ran the Fright Show outside the VFW about six times and people loved it.

Sleeping in a Cybertruck on the beach at Starbase
Owner @Man_Cave_Mike posted on Oct 21 that when a late night booster move at @SpaceX Starbase ran past 4 AM, he skipped his South Padre hotel, went back to the beach and slept in his @cybertruck with the windows down, listening to the waves and the crews working on the launch pad.
He also says he did a little damage driving through the ocean at Starbase, and Tesla gave him a brand new Cybertruck as a loaner while his early Foundation Series truck is fixed.

Classic Garlic Dill Pickle 🥒

Brine in bulk, mixed cold
1 gallon water
1 gallon vinegar (1/1)
1 cup canning salt
1/2 cup light raw cane sugar
Makes 2 gallons, about 8 quarts of brine. Mix it cold in a clean bucket or jug and set it aside until you pack the jars.
Per quart of brine
2 cups water
2 cups vinegar
2 tablespoons canning salt
1 tablespoon light raw cane sugar
A packed quart jar takes roughly 2 cups of brine, so one quart of brine covers about 2 jars.
Per quart jar
1 large fresh dill sprig (get from produce market)
3 cloves garlic, whole, smashed, or chopped
6 to 10 black peppercorns
A pinch of red pepper flakes
Optional
Mustard seed and bay leaf. I rarely add them myself, but they bring a classic taste people like, and bay leaves can help keep pickles crunchy.
Always
Cut the blossom (flower bud) end off each cucumber. It has enzymes that can soften pickles.
Steps
1. Mix the cold brine and set it aside.
2. Add the dill, garlic, peppercorns, and red pepper to each clean plastic or glass quart container.
3. Pack the cucumbers, sliced or whole, into the containers.
4. Pour brine over until fully covered.
5. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 3 days, sampling daily.
Layer tip
In a large container (about 6 quarts), pack wholes on the bottom, then halves, then chunks, then slices on top. The slices on top pickle first, so enjoy those before digging deeper.

Honey Thyme Pickled Apple Slices
Apple season calls for something new in the fridge. Crisp apple slices soak up a warm cider vinegar brine with honey, fresh thyme, and a little black pepper, and come out sweet, tart, and still crunchy. Pile them on a pork chop or a turkey sandwich, add them to a cheese board, or snack on them cold.
Ingredients for one quart jar
2 large crisp apples, such as Honeycrisp, about 1 pound
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup water (1/1)
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon canning salt
4 sprigs fresh thyme
1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
1/2 teaspoon yellow mustard seed
1 small cinnamon stick

Slice, Steep, and Chill
Method
1. Warm the vinegar, water, honey, and salt until dissolved, then let the brine cool for 15 minutes so it stays warm but not hot.
2. Core the apples and cut them into 1/4 inch slices, leaving the skin on for color.
3. Pack the slices into a clean quart jar with the thyme, peppercorns, mustard seed, and cinnamon stick.
4. Pour the warm brine over the apples until fully covered, cool to room temperature, then cap and refrigerate.
Storage
Ready in 1 day, best after 2 days. Keep the jar in the fridge and eat within about 2 weeks. Firm, tart apples hold their crunch best, and the honey brine is great splashed into a vinaigrette.

Owner @carsonweber posted on Oct 20 that he and his teenage son just covered 3,727 miles in 11 days in their @cybertruck, every mile on Full Self Driving, for 68 hours of drive time.
The route ran from El Paso through Cloudcroft, White Sands, Santa Fe, Taos, the Rio Grande Gorge, Durango, Mesa Verde, Moab, Arches, Zion and Petrified Forest.

Halfway through your Thursday, and the calendar keeps moving. Tesla's at Cars & Coffee and Lunch Convoy rolls into VFW Post 2550, 360 Douglas Ave, Dunedin, FL 34698 on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Here is how the morning flows. Cars & Coffee opens at 7:30 AM and runs until 10 AM. The VFW starts serving its amazing breakfast at 8:00 AM, and at 9 AM the Teslas gather for the inaugural EV and Tesla debut at the VFW's monthly show. Bring whatever you drive, because all types of vehicles are welcome.
Ever wondered what Full Self Driving (Supervised) looks like up close? Local owners will give free demos of it, plus free Actually Smart Summon demos, right in the lot on their own @Tesla vehicles. Ask all the questions you like.
The whole family is covered. Kids get a playground, everyone gets free garlic dill pickles, and cyclists can roll in straight off the Pinellas Trail.
Once the show wraps, the convoy leaves at 10:30 AM toward Honeymoon Island, a favorite @FLStateParks destination, for lunch at Cricketers British Pub from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Ski & Odin are your hosts, and coming out is a simple way to support VFW Post 2550. @teslabrosclub, save a spot in the lineup for your crew.
