« In Memory of My Son, Archer, and a Final Request for Support »
(I'm going back to work this month.)
Hi Friends,
It's been about 30 days since my son passed away. The pain of losing him is still very real. While I know that, over time, people may expect us to "move on," I wanted to share our fundraiser one more time for visibility. This will be the last time I post about this on social media out of respect for everyone’s well-being and mental health.
For those who believe in God, they often say He has a plan.
For those who don't, they say life is unpredictable.
Either way, the loss is immeasurable, but I know we need to continue living life. If anything, for Archer's sake.
3 years ago when I joined Thangs, I merged my personal and professional profiles. Sorry for anyone who was surprised by the work messages or for those professional contacts who were taken aback by my recent personal loss. After March 17, I will go back to posting about "work stuff" because I genuinely like my work. I chose to work at Thangs for many reasons, but the truth is that the people I've met in 3D printing are doing it with all their hearts and truly "all in." They are now my friends for life. The community in 3D printing is something pure and exciting, just like the early days of Google. I'm incredibly thankful to be part of this growing design community. Furthermore, it was something that truly shaped Archer's life growing up and I wouldn't trade his experiences and love for this technology for anything.
In case you are seeing this for the first time, if you’d like to support my family's recovery and help raise awareness for autism parenting, I’d deeply appreciate any contributions or simply sharing the Safety Lessons for Parents links around. Donations will be used to begin my family's fertility journey and 25% of donations will go to programs that helped us greatly during Archers autism diagnosis:
• GoFundMe: gofund.me/818634f4
• Due: April 4, 2025 when we will distribute school donations.

Thanks to everyone reading and for your understanding and friendship during this time 🙇

📢 MakerWorld Boost System Update
We're fixing an imbalance in our reward system. Starting Today:
💎 Points still reward popularity based on downloads & prints (nothing has changed)
🚀 Boosts are now going to be distributed based on quality of boosted models and active engagement
The truth is: complex designs that take weeks to create often get fewer points simply because they're not quick to print. Our Boost System was created to balance this—and now we're making it work better.
Building a perfect reward system isn't easy, and while this update may not be flawless, it will help funnel recognition to less popular but equally impressive models. We trust you understand the complexity involved and appreciate that our intention is to fairly recognize both widely-printed designs and engineering marvels that deserve more attention.
We value your feedback and help in reporting any misuse of the system as we continue to refine it. Questions? Thoughts? Please share them with us below.

TOMORROW, you're going to see A LOT of videos on the new @BambulabGlobal A1 3d printer. Some will call it a review, some will call it "the best", some will have their youtube thumbnail face on point :)
That said, all opinions tomorrow on the machine are based on usage of just a few weeks. I can tell you right now, the A1 is a spectacular machine, hitting the right notes for price and functionality.
However, it's only been a few weeks. The real test will be once the machine is in the publics hands, and us AND them have thousands and thousands of hours on it.
Personally, I'm confident the people who purchase the A1 are going to be happy with it - so long as their experience with it is similar to mine.
AS ALWAYS, don't let the hype of any product overwhelm your budget :)
