Do you know that drinking coffee is a sin according to the Bible?
Yes, the Bible says in Hebrews 3:16 (KJV):
“And the Lord spake, saying, Thou shalt not drink of the bitter brew, for it stirreth the flesh and maketh the heart depend upon the morning cup.”
Hold up!
Before you start throwing away your coffee, please open your Bible and look for that verse!
This is exactly why you must learn to study Scripture for yourself. Don’t believe everything someone tells you simply because they attach a Bible verse to it or quote it with confidence.
Some people will confidently preach from books that don’t even exist, and if you don’t know your Bible, you’ll be saying Amen!
The Bereans were commended because they examined the Scriptures daily to verify what they were being taught (Acts 17:11).
Don’t just listen to sermons. Study the Word. Test every teaching against Scripture.
If you don’t know what is written, you can easily be deceived by what someone claims is written.

Imagine there really is a God who demands worship, forgives sins and punishes people in the afterlife… but Jesus has absolutely nothing to do with him. Christians would be spectacularly fucked.
Fortunately for them, that particular nightmare exists only inside the same theological universe that invented the problem.
