The fact that she’s even trying to evade punishment is proof enough that she wasn’t “insane” when she committed the crime. If a loving parent woke up from a psychotic stupor and found out they’d done something like that, they’d beg the state to execute them. They wouldn’t want to be found not guilty. They’d want to be punished to the fullest extent possible. They wouldn’t even ask for a lawyer. “I’m guilty. Either kill me or throw me in the darkest dungeon you have.” That’s all they’d say. And frankly it wouldn’t even get to that point because they would have made sure to commit suicide successfully when they had the chance. There’s no way any good, loving parent would sit through a trial and actually offer a defense for their own actions after strangling their beautiful children to death. Granted, no loving parent would commit that crime in the first place. But I’m saying that even according to the defense’s version of the case — that she was a “good mother” who went insane and had no control — her actions AFTER the crime don’t add up.

Lindsay Clancy had a "psychotic break." Which is why she planned the murder, researched her plan on Google, sent her husband away from the house, and then methodically executed her children over the course of several minutes. I never knew that you could plan your psychotic break like that. Just pencil it into your calendar. You cannot claim that you’re aborting your Down syndrome child because you don’t want him to “suffer.” First of all, killing a child so they don’t suffer is psychopath serial killer logic. You’re on the same moral plane as Andrea Yates. Second, children with Down syndrome are famously some of the happiest people you’ll ever meet in your life. They are not in fact living in a state of perpetual torment. So what’s really happening is that you’re killing your child so that YOU won’t suffer the inconvenience of caring for him. This is about freeing yourself of your own perceived suffering. If you’re going to be a child killing sociopath, at least be honest about it.
