Just found out Cinemarkās lease on our favorite theater on Shoreline Blvd in Mountain View ran out, and landowner Syufy has proposed 1,914 apartments in 9-15 story buildings, plus retail, on the site. The Bay Area clearly needs more density.
They say theyāll reopen the theater for now, but the filed plan tears down the building and its parking lot.
Itās been the best theater around: quiet, cozy, with plenty of parking and a great fountain out front that added to the chill vibes. Hard to see any of that surviving.
Iām tired of greed beating out culture and the arts. Canāt wait to leave the area. @MountainViewGov, this oneās still under your review
