In the past week alone, Muslims have: 1. Slaughtered 9 Christians during a funeral in Jordan. 2. Beheaded 40 Christians in Nigeria with machetes. 3. Massacred 60 Christians in Ethiopia and burned down their homes. They didn’t get even 1% of the media coverage Gaza gets.

This is why people hate greedy, unethical @Microsoft. They’ve just installed an update on the computer of every user of Mac @Office 2021 that bricks Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc. We all have perpetual licences for Office 2021 but apparently Microsoft decided it was time to try to make everyone pay them money, even though the licence was supposed to be a one-off purchase. After some trial and error, this fix worked for me – posting here for anyone having the same problem: 1. Delete the Office apps (Word etc.) from the Applications folder 2. Download and run the Microsoft licence removal tool: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?lin… 3. Download and install the version of Office for Mac from 6th October 2026: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/of… 4. Enter your original licence code for Office to activate it 5. In the Finder, go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Microsoft and delete the MAU2.0 folder 6. Open Word, then go to the Word menu, then About Microsoft Word and check that it shows your licence 7. Still in Word, go to the Help menu, and make sure that the Check for updates option isn’t there 8. Don’t update Office for Mac and it should keep working – you need to keep updates off or Microsoft will install an update that bricks Office all over again What a waste of time.

Breaking down the NC legislative maps in today's @TheAssemblyNC Zoom event: Democrats controlling the state Senate is nearly statistically impossible. For them to take control of the state House, they'd need to win 16 of 20 seats that are at least somewhat competitive. #ncpol

🎯💯 the tariff roller coaster made business planning extremely difficult before the trading scheme met its just demise at SCOTUS and DOGE cuts impacted ‘government adjacent’ business
Should the South Asian vote swing wildly to the left, as it seems will be the case this year, it's going to be not just due to perceptions of racism from right-wing folk this year against them, but also because they're small business owners being squeezed by the economy. @DavidIRamadan put it very aptly: you can't look past that resentment if you're feeling the pain in your pocketbook. This is not a Loudoun thing, just like how what happened in 2024 wasn't a Loudoun thing. If you're a Republican running in a district or state with a significant % or growing number of South Asians, wear a helmet. I'm particularly thinking of TX and GA here (no, our poll tomorrow in GA did not prompt this tweet).

A brief history of Lamar Jackson injury narratives in Baltimore: 🟣 2021: Lamar hurts his ankle. John Harbaugh calls it a sprain. It's actually a bone bruise. ⚫️ 2022: Lamar hurts his knee. Harbaugh says it's not season-ending. Lamar later says the injury was "on the borderline" of a complete ligament tear. 🟣 2025: Lamar hurts his back. Harbaugh calls it a "bruise of some kind." He later says that muscles can "lock up" around deep contusions like Lamar's. ⚫️ 2026: Lamar hurts his ankle. Jesse Minter calls him "day-to-day." Lamar later says he couldn't run during the week of Minter's comments — and that his injury is a high-ankle sprain. This is what can happen when sports medicine, gamesmanship and injury reporting collide: thebanner.com/sports/ravens-…

Today I issued an Executive Order designating “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson as the official anthem of Florida. I have also directed the @FLSecofState to erect historic markers in the City of Apopka depicting John Anderson’s contribution to Florida’s heritage. In addition, I have tasked @FLDEPNews to work with the @SJRWMD to designate wildlife drive and trail system within Lake Apopka North Shore as the John Anderson Wildlife Drive and Trail System.

excellent reporting - as with Ben Hogan’s advice on the golf swing the secret is in the dirt - disconnected candidates lose - why D chances are far greater here than say Maine
NEW: I spent 3 days last week in Roger Marshall's longtime home of Great Bend. I talked to women whose babies he delivered, people who've known him 30 years, Dems, Republicans, a guy Marshall once tried to talk into buying a bird dog from his litter. (cont'd)

On this day, October 28, 1940, Greece is attacked by the Italian fascists. Northern Epirus was stained with the blood of heroes who threw the fascists into the sea. This land was ceded to the Albanians with the help of the allies.

The PJM utilities are at it again! In 2024, FERC rejected the utilities' coup, finding that changes to their contract w PJM would have given them control over PJM. Looking to capitalize on turmoil at PJM, the utilities are trying again -- go.pjm.com/l/678183/2026-10-…
On Friday night, FERC rejected the PJM utilities' attempted coup. Great work by state regulators in the region to oppose the utilities' self-serving proposal. FERC rejected the utilities on multiple grounds. elibrary.ferc.gov/eLibrary/f…

Behind the meter gas power has become a common path for data centers to get power faster. But it turns out operating a city-scale utility is no joke (turbine shafts breaking, low uptimes). It's hell for social licenes (if you think communities hate data centers, try data centers with 40 jet engines running non-stop!). And it leaves these facilities quite exposed to future gas price risk, as Aniruddh illustrates below.
Interesting sections on energy in Anthropic's S1 filing! There's been speculation on how data centers are managing fuel price risk from gas offtake, whether off-grid data centers will happen at scale - 'an increasing share of data centers being developed with dedicated onsite generation independent of the grid' - ANT exposed to fuel price volatility as they bear cost on a pass-through basis, no cap on fuel costs - Lack of firm gas supply can delay facilities - For grid connected assets, ANT discusses 'investing in curtailment systems' to reduce strain during peak periods - Cooling needs may increase over time for data centers due to changing climate - Notes risk that utilities may reallocate capacity required by ANT data centers
