Someone will try you at every level of academia. Most times I wonder why I do what I do. Then, I get patients that feel heard, understood, and who are thankful that I’m in the space that I am. That’s kept me grounded.

There will be zero academic papers on what was lost by forcibly removing family docs from hospitals across the country and replacing them with hospitalists.
Replying to @doukhobour
This is terrible, I'm so sorry man. Elderly care really requires doctors who are invested in the patient and know them well. I feel awful having to have these sorts of discussions with family in ICU. I wish we could bring back the old model of family doctor following the patient in the hospital. A few patients that I have had whose primary doctor did come visit, everything was so much smoother. We just chat, and they doc conveys things to the family that may take ten times longer and more painful for them. Just had one who peacefully passed away surrounded by family only because the primary doctor showed up and told them this is futile.

This morning, @nsidaniel11 finished as a runner-up in the ACEP Drop the Mic competition. Of the 27 selected physicians in the competition, she was the only resident, the rest were all seasoned faculty. This is an incredible honor for her to even be selected to present as a resident, let alone for her to finish in the top 3, an unprecedented achievement as a resident.
It’s nuts that white supremacy is being mainstreamed.
The head of America’s most infamous hate group, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), has told Al Jazeera that support is up ahead of the US midterm elections because of the current political climate.
But how relevant is its message in 2026?
Al Jazeera’s Phil Lavelle reports.

Boseman family claims in the letter are unverified assertions from their contentious estate dispute with his widow. Official records confirm colon cancer as cause of death, and such opioid levels are typical and expected in terminal cancer palliative care.

The Empyrean series is really my jam. Thank you Rebecca Yarros for bringing back my will to sit and enjoy books post medical training.
If you doubt this, go look at all the radiologists that have me blocked. 'The ER docs are so dumb...'
My response is 'you're on staff at all these hospitals those dumb ER docs work in, go show them how it's done'.
If you're wondering, that's how you get blocked by radiologists.

As an ER Doc if I order the head neck angio, I lose. If I DONT? I lose. Lmao
That’s why I am the stroke neurologist and that’s why you’re not. That’s why I blocked you early on, because you remind me of the sort of persons who would encourage diagnostic nihilism that ultimately result in the maiming of patients.
Don’t give up. Do your job! I’ll do mine to ensure that the 10 to 25% of AVS patients who present to the ED with new onset symptoms who are indeed having a stroke, isn’t missed because a clinical Dunning Kruger who actually DOESN’T see patients at bedside, and hasn’t for decades, preach the harmful rhetoric of diagnostic nihilism.
Having to explain this to people who DON’T work in the ED is annoying. If you have a problem with management, please see them in clinic. You don’t see what I see or have seen. You certainly can’t do what I do and vice versa. Stay in your lanes, respectfully.
