Glory Days for the Waifs and Strays: Identity and Meaning in the Rise of the Modern Manchester City is out NOW via all the usual online outlets.
You can only buy signed copies at Deansgate Waterstones, though.
(no, that hasn't knocked a chunk off the price.)

Football clubs are magic
A lovely message from Henrik Pedersen's wife, Isabella, after his exit as Sheffield Wednesday manager. #SWFC 🦉⚽
The Ballon d'Or can feel like a self-obsessed ego trip - and with good reason - but there was something really beautiful about Harry Kane winning the award tonight and how he received it. One of the great ones, who was never supposed to be great.

Maybe no one who isn't from Spain will win a football award ever again...

Journalists pre-prepare articles to allow for quick publication. More as we get it...
The Ballon d’Or website had prewritten articles announcing Mbappe, Kane and Lamine Yamal as winners of the award.
After some digging I found more articles that weren’t supposed to be live 👇
Lionel Messi for the Ballon d’Or (in Spanish) & Alexia Putellas and Ewa Pajor, for the women's award.
Arteta, Enrique, de la Fuente for men’s coach.
Pere Romeu for women’s coach of the year.
Raya and Unai Simon for men’s goalkeeper of the year.
Cata Coll for women’s goalkeeper.
Yamal and Cubarsi for men’s young talent and Vicky Lopez for women’s young talent.
Harry Kane for striker of the year.
PSG for men’s club of the year and Barcelona for women’s club of the year.

I sat down with Bob Toole and @DomFarrell1986 to reminisce about the 'best' City goalie errors (and I forgot one Villa-related story from 2001). Oh, and we discussed Saturday's game. Plus, @ryanadsett from @TalkSeagulls chats Brighton: pod.fo/e/6f6d87
You'd think clocking former Manchester mayor Andy Burnham and current UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham are, in fact, the same person, would be a hurdle low enough for AI slop to clear. But here we are.
The Guardian are back at it again with yet another hit piece targeting our owners, per a new podcast episode presented by Helen Pidd with Josh Halliday; produced by Tom Glasser, Scarlet Pestell, Claudia Efemini and Ross Burns; executive producer Sami Kent.
The latest instalment questions the ties between Andy Burnham and the UAE, asking why the mayor intervened to defend our ownership after the prime minister recently did the same.
The report walks through Manchester to chart its transformation from Emirati money, discussing alleged sweetheart deals to own land and raising questions about a lack of transparency. It also references research from Sheffield University examining who has ultimately benefited from the investment in the city.
Same old tune from them, really. When will they ever give it a rest?
It's Clasico time!

Seems I've got it wider to Smith than most people. From ringside, I thought he punched with more accuracy and authority to snatch most of the close rounds. And there were a lot of close rounds. Puello wary of Dalton's power from early on, that maybe influenced how I called it.
Thought that was a mature performance from Dalton Smith. Puello a horrible night's work for anyone. Onwards to Hillsborough.

AND STILL! Dalton Smith retains his WBC light welterweight via split decision (115-113 twice, 112-116) against Alberto Puello, who now has four SDs and one MD in title fights. I had it 116-112 Smith. 115-113 is fine. 116-112 to Puello a mad card.
The collective bid to get me on the last train home continues as teenage heavyweight star Leo Atang moves to 9-0 (8 KOs) with a first-round win over Argentina's Jonathan Vergara 🚂

WOOF! Shannon Ryan gets revenge over Emma Dolan with a rapid 1st round KO to add the British super flyweight title to her Commonwealth strap. Nailed Dolan with an overhand right and then kept hammering her with that shot. Brutal, clinical finish from Ryan.
I think Maresca got his selection wrong. Like him being pro-active with the bench but Cherki HT hook again and Ndiaye off too early. Khusanov RB isn't it. Probably Anderson's worst game. Don't like Enzo in a central 2 in those games, Bouaddi has to play. And yet...
Enzo Maresca: "I think we didn't deserve to lose, but... we lost." [via @footballontnt]
