To mark what would’ve been Jean Alexander’s 100th birthday, here’s one of the many lovely moments she shared on screen with Irene.

It’s such a patronising piece. The poor woman having to deal with that. Who cares about her age… if she was happy.

This was a horrible thing to do, and greatly upset Doris, who was of a generation in which a lady's age was not discussed unless she wanted it to be. It put me off the Daily Mirror for quite a while!🙄

#OnThisDay in 1983: In a move that is soon roundly criticised, the Daily Mirror revealed Doris's real age was 84 and not 69 as she had claimed. #DorisSpeed

Ooops! Hahaha, poor little Tricia, she chased Ray Langton after that all through 1974 and 75 and 76. Never caught him though. Doris Speed was superb in that scene, it made me shake I tell ya’. Thank you David X @Ardirv51 and thank you @DorisSpeedFans X
