Taxes per gallon
The state and federal taxes are a fixed amount per gallon, about 50.6¢ combined:
•Federal: 18.4¢
•NYS excise tax: 8¢
•NYS petroleum business tax: 15.8¢
•NYS fees: about 0.4¢
•NYS sales tax: 8¢
The county tax goes up as gas prices rise. (These are my estimates)
As for Erie County NY:
When gas was $4.59: about 71¢ of each gallon went to taxes, including roughly 19¢ to the county. Once gas goes above about $4.40,
Erie’s county tax is bigger than the federal tax.
Too bad @markpoloncarz and @KathyHochul @GovKathyHochul are not smart enough to lift the taxes to help them in the mid terms.
As much as I love Ed Oliver of the @BuffaloBills, I think he needs to retire. He’s always hurt.
