Alastair Campbell is on a book tour promoting his new work Persevilience, which Mr S has not read but hears is, erm, not exactly the best book to ever be published.
Last night, Campbell was on Question Time – along with Reform's Zia Yusuf, the Lib Dems' Daisy Cooper, the Tories' James Cartlidge and Labour's Emma Reynolds – hoping, one presumes, to shift a few copies. The appearance didn't go brilliantly.
After Campbell went after Yusuf for spreading 'a pack of lies' about the benefits of Brexit, Reform's man thought the old spinner could do with a brief reminder of his own esteemed past.

The degradation - and intentional dismantling of - the word disability is one of the most dangerous trends today. If we do not know what disability means, how do we prioritise and support those in greatest need?
Lying about genocide.
Israel is “setting a permanent architecture of control made out of all the rubble and ruins of Palestinian homes” in Gaza, says @weizman_eyal, director of @ForensicArchi. “The shuffling of that rubble is destroying evidence for the genocide.”
HAMAS propaganda is endemic at C4 News.
The rubble of Gaza is now a tomb.
Since the Hamas-led attacks in Israel on October 7, tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip, many of them women and children.
And more than 1,400 Gazans have been killed since the ceasefire last October.
The bodies of many of the victims have still not yet been recovered with the remains covered under thousands of tons of rubble.
Israel still doesn't allow journalists in, so working with a Gazan filmmaker Channel 4 News has followed efforts to retrieve the of bodies trapped there.
Warning: this report contains distressing images including human remains.
It won't power anything unless the wind blows.
Replying to @politvidchannel
The project, developed by SSE Renewables, could eventually reach 4.1 GW — enough to power over 6 million homes.

Real poster from Buckinghamshire Council and Thames Valley police.
Police have issued a warning to the public that Halloween can upset "religious or cultural beliefs" ahead of the celebrations this weekend.
I’m so tired of all this crap.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The poster is a standard "no trick or treat" notice from Thames Valley Police and Buckinghamshire Council for residents (esp. elderly/vulnerable) who do not want unexpected callers. It contains no mention of Halloween upsetting religious or cultural beliefs.

“Friday I’m in Love” is from The Cure’s 1992 album Wish. Robert Smith has called it a dumb pop song that is also excellent, precisely because it is so out of character: optimistic, naïve and happy.
Released in May 1992 as the second single, it reached No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart (the band’s last UK Top 10) and No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100, while topping the Modern Rock Tracks chart for four weeks.
Smith became convinced he had stolen the progression and called everyone he could think of to play it for them, asking if they had heard it before. He had also accidentally left the vari-speed on during recording, so the track sits a quarter-tone sharp. After months of work in concert pitch, that slight lift is what makes the song jump out. The video, directed by Tim Pope, won the European Viewer’s Choice award at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards.

While celebrating his 36th wedding anniversary with his wife, on the Italian luxury cruise ship Achille Lauro, the vessel was hijacked by members of the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF).
Because he was Jewish and American, Leon Klinghoffer—who was 69 years old and used a wheelchair after suffering a debilitating stroke—was singled out, shot in the head, and thrown overboard along with his wheelchair.
Remember his name.
Never forget the evils perpetrated by the Palestinians.
Read more about Leon Klinghoffer and the hijacking of the Achille Lauro in the post below.
Four armed hijackers executed a 69-year-old disabled American in a wheelchair and threw him overboard into the Mediterranean—only for US Navy fighter jets to ambush their getaway airliner in pitch-black airspace, forcing it down onto a NATO runway for an armed standoff between American commandos and Italian carabinieri.
The reason might surprise you.
On October 7, 1985, the Italian luxury cruise liner MS Achille Lauro was cruising off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt, carrying hundreds of international holidaymakers.
While the majority of passengers had disembarked for a shore excursion to Cairo, four heavily armed militants from the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF), led by 23-year-old Youssef Majed al-Molqi, seized the vessel.
Their original plan had been to stay undercover until the ship docked in Ashdod, Israel, to launch a suicide raid on military installations. But when a cabin steward caught them cleaning assault rifles in their state room, they panicked, commandeered the bridge, and held over 400 remaining passengers and crew hostage.
They redirected the cruise liner toward Tartus, Syria, demanding the immediate release of 50 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
When the Syrian government refused to allow the ship to enter port, the hijackers decided to execute a hostage to prove their resolve:
They singled out Leon Klinghoffer, a 69-year-old Jewish-American retired appliance manufacturer from New York who had suffered two severe strokes and was confined to a wheelchair.
Forced onto the open deck, Klinghoffer was shot once in the forehead and once in the chest.
The hijackers then forced two ship crew members at gunpoint to dump Klinghoffer's body and his wheelchair into the open sea.
Fearing international retaliation, PLF leader Muhammad Zaidan (known as Abu Abbas) established radio contact with the ship, ordering the hijackers to steer back toward Port Said, Egypt.
In Cairo, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak arranged a controversial diplomatic compromise:
In exchange for releasing the cruise ship and the remaining hostages unharmed, the hijackers were granted safe passage out of Egypt aboard a commercial EgyptAir Boeing 737 bound for Tunis, alongside Abu Abbas.
President Mubarak publicly claimed the hijackers had already left the country, but US intelligence knew the plane had not yet taken off from Al Maza military airbase.
When President Ronald Reagan learned of Klinghoffer's murder, he issued an immediate directive: intercept the airliner.
On the night of October 10, four F-14 Tomcat fighter jets from the USS Saratoga (Carrier Air Wing 17), supported by an E-2C Hawkeye radar plane, roared off the catapults into the dark Mediterranean sky:
Without using radio transmissions or radar illumination, the F-14s crept up on the EgyptAir flight in complete blackout mode at 34,000 feet south of Crete.
Switching on running lights and drawing within inches of the airliner’s wingtips, the American fighter pilots rocked their wings and radioed the Egyptian pilot directly on emergency frequencies: "Divert your heading to Sigonella, or face interception."
Flanked on both wings by armed Tomcats, the airliner had no choice but to follow the escorts down to Naval Air Station Sigonella in Sicily.
The crisis, however, didn't end on the tarmac. It triggered a near-shooting standoff between two NATO allies:
As soon as the airliner touched down at midnight, US Navy SEAL Team Six operators surrounded the plane in tactical gear.
Within minutes, fifty Italian Carabinieri and military police surrounded the Navy SEALs with submachine guns, drawing down on the Americans.
Italian Prime Minister Bettino Craxi insisted that because the aircraft had landed on sovereign Italian soil and the hijacking occurred on an Italian-flagged ship, Italy retained absolute legal jurisdiction.
