New fully-funded interdisciplinary PhD opportunity to explore the impact of plastic-derived and forever chemicals on human health. This is part of a new exciting collaboration between @CNEM and CWBE at the University of Bath. findaphd.com/phds/project/ep…

This is a great opportunity to play a leading role in the development of research in this emerging area. The research direction can be decided according to the student’s interests.

The research could involve comparative human studies or interventions - and/or mechanistic studies in cells. Whatever the direction, there will be the chance to develop great analytical skills alongside world-leading experts (e.g., mass spectrometry).

Our latest paper, led by @jgraby explores how CTCA reclassifies atheroma burden vs CAC and how this impacts Rx. It also highlights variability in active peri-coronary inflammation across a lipid clinic cohort with @CaristoHeart analysis.

In extreme cases, some people could even be worse off (at least in LOW). Thus, variation in studies like HERITAGE (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1048…) might be partially caused by heterogenous substitution (not just genetics).

Caveat: This is based on modelling and shows the POTENTIAL for substitution. We propose some suggestions for how this could be explored further - and how it could potentially be exploited to increase the net effect of interventions. Take a look and see what you think.
