Indie cartoons are so greedy they want to build an entire world, make multiple of character arcs, have a compelling plot and send a meaningful massage all in 8 episode with 10 min length. They feel like passion project with its endgoal that it exists and nothing else

Especially the reply: yes your indie projects are wonderful and can be full of charm but ultimately lack impact and a hook. Art can be interesting but if it's devoid of meaning or at least something to engage with the audience it can feel hollow.

to just reiterate on the point I'm making here is NOT that art can't be misogynistic or influenced by misogyny but rather that I just don't think you can really tell if a character design is "rooted" or inherently misogynistic at a glance

When misogyny in art gets discussed on my timeline there's a lot of art accounts that get mad at the topic and say it isn't/shouldn't be treated as serious, and then i go check their accs and all their women characters look like this, completly unironically too

I also think it's a matter of bias. Artists are more likely to express what they find attractive in art be it intentional or not. A straight man will draw attractive women but less attractive men, a gay man other men attractive but women less attractive and so on so forth.

I hate how you're not allowed to dislike things anymore. If you dislike something then it HAS to be a moral injustice or an insult and must be destroyed or else it's not valid for some reason. What if I just think somethings bad or uninteresting and think it could be better?
