If the Ballon d’Or were based purely on fan votes, or a system with 70% fan votes and 30% journalist votes, or even 50% fan votes, 20% coaches and ex-footballers, and 30% journalist votes, Messi wouldn’t have up to 5 Ballon d’Ors in his career, and Ronaldo would have won at least 7.
