“Best way to sandbox an AI,” Musk said. “Put it on a Delta flight.”
A few weeks ago, the Secret Service locked Jensen Huang, Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, Satya Nadella, Lisa Su, and Michael Dell in a room in Washington, DC.
While they waited for President Trump, Huang—who chooses not to own a jet—complained about a recent commercial plane ride. It had no Wi-Fi.
“Best way to sandbox an AI,” Musk said. “Put it on a Delta flight.”
All six were about to receive national medals from the President. The ceremony was the idea of Michael Kratsios, Trump's chief science advisor. He is 39, a Peter Thiel protégé, and has worked for Trump every day of both terms.
For decades, the office Kratsios runs was known mostly for reports on things like algae blooms. Kratsios himself was barely known in Trump's first term. Now he sits between the President and tech royalty. He is one of a handful of people shaping America's AI policy, and the White House's point man on nuclear, space, and quantum.
In our latest feature, @harrytlambert shows how the fight to regulate AI and reform American science runs through his office.

We’re in Little Rock, Arkansas. Our biggest fast food discovery of this trip has been Sonic. We’re eating there all the time. Our friend who arrived last week is the biggest fan and is forcing us to go there pretty much every second day. It’s slop food, but it’s so good.

Nationally, Arkansas baseball ranked #1 among 1,048 D-I teams outside football and men's basketball that reported ticket revenue.
@UNDmhockey was 2nd ($4.35M) and UConn women's basketball 3rd ($4.25M).
Arkansas alone took in 8.5% of all D-I baseball ticket revenue.

We just made it to Arkansas. A new state for all of us!
I want to use this post to say thank you to VW who offered us to use one of their cars for this roadtrip so we don’t need to worry about the rental car hassle we had on the last trip.

"Domains are shallow, except the one I understand and work in." —said too many people too often
"Most domains are fundamentally pretty shallow," says @RyanGreenblatt. A concise statement of what the superintelligence worldview gets wrong, IMO. My view is the opposite: many domains are surprisingly deep, and AI won't be able to "quickly pick up a bunch of domains."

Quality did not always rise. During the Great Depression, quality fell 7% as Sears shifted toward cheaper goods: silk vanished from apparel and curtains became two feet shorter — the "trading down" pattern theory predicts. (9/9)
Exciting to see the Trump Account deposit for one of our children today.
It’s not just a gift of $1,000 but also a gift of ownership and time, two ingredients that give compound growth a chance to do its work.
