Delighted to be launching this programme - thank you to everyone involved
Thank you to all integrated care boards (ICB) who submitted an expression of interest to be part of the Independent Prescribing in Community Pharmacy Pathfinder programme. Today we have written to all ICBs to set out the next steps.

ALT Quote: "From September 2026, all newly qualified pharmacists will be independent prescribers. This has triggered a lot of my pharmacy colleagues into outraged indignation because ‘pharmacy’ didn’t get an invite. This has been a common theme all my career… so to all my non pharmacy friends, why aren’t pharmacy invited… what do we need to do differently to get a seat?
Today I hosted the NHS Recovery Forum in Downing Street with clinical leaders, health experts and ministers.
We are determined to ease pressure on the NHS, ensure better care for patients and deliver our promise to cut waiting lists ⤵️
