Incredibly poignant cartoon by @mortenmorland in today’s Times.
If you know someone who lives alone, perhaps bereaved, for whom today may hit especially hard, perhaps give them a ring later on 🖤

I looked up "whistleblower" on Thesaurus.com, and this is what it gave me. Perhaps it's a sign of how little we value those who tell the truth.

It's not about a Zoom quiz or a glass of wine on a patio or whatever. That's what they want to reduce it to. It's about somebody remembering their mum dying alone because they did the right thing & now feeling awful wondering why they didn't break the rules to be with them.

Where this pandemic is concerned, we're all in the same storm but we are not all in the same boat. Some are in huge yachts and can hardly feel a ripple, some are in smaller boats which are listing slightly to port, some are rowing, exhausted and some are in the water, drowning.

Just heartbreaking. Govt sat on their hands whilst theatres fall one at a time. We are calling on govt to speak out - tell us what time frame you’re looking at to announce rescue package. Lack of leadership and transparency is pure cultural vandalism.

I said nothing about allegations agst Caroline Flack because we have trial in courts not in media or in court of public opinion
Her tragic death is a symptom of something terribly wrong with the cult of celebrity & how we forget they are human beings

Once arrived at an event and they barred my way & were nasty with it.
'D'you have a ticket?'
'No, I don't. I'm-'
'Then you'll have to leave. It's sold out. You can't come in.'
'If I leave then so does everyone else as they've all paid to hear me speak.'
Red faces all round. 🙃

Final speech. It was painful.

Charisma doesn’t treat my patients’ pain, Piers.
It doesn’t magic nurses from air to reopen closed hospice beds.
It doesn’t treat cancer like a radioisotope does.
It doesn’t replace the 2500 nurses who’ve left due to Brexit.
No Deal will kill patients.
Sod ‘charisma’.
The reason @BorisJohnson will probably win this leadership race is because he has charisma & he’s following someone with the least charisma in British political history. Boris is no Mother Teresa but he’s smart, funny & entertaining - I’d rather that as PM than a dull robot.
