This has been on my mind since the @howertonjosh podcast on @ShawnRyan762 show!
It’s really simple, maybe not easy but the message is simple.
Matthew 6:12 — “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”
Jesus doesn’t leave that line to sit quietly. Two verses later, he explains it:
Matthew 6:14-15 — “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

REMINDER to all leaders... if you’re already in school...REALIZE IT.
If you’re not already in school...FIX IT before it becomes a problem.
It's not about the stuff...it's about the person delivering the stuff...take care of each other. Please.

Compete Every Day by @JakeAThompson is one of the most impactful leadership books I’ve read. As an assistant principal, it challenged me to stop comparing myself to others and focus on becoming better than I was yesterday. The message is practical, motivating, and immediately applicable to leadership, education, and life.
If you want to lead with purpose, build resilience, and develop a championship mindset, this book belongs on your shelf. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #CompeteEveryDay #Leadership #Education #GrowthMindset #LeadBetter

Excellence Works Backwards
Morgan Freeman spent 30 years grinding in near-anonymity before his breakthrough — small parts, no recognition, just the work.
He didn’t wait for Hollywood to validate him before taking his craft seriously. He took it seriously first. The outcome showed up 30 years later.
Here’s the mistake most people make: they want to pay the price after they get the position. Excellence doesn’t work that way. It works backwards.
The second-string guy who trains like a starter isn’t chasing a promotion — he’s chasing excellence. The promotion is just the byproduct. The starter who waits until he’s “got the job” to go all-in has already lost the job.
Run it through E+R=O:
— Event: where you sit on the depth chart
— Response: how seriously you take every rep, every meeting, every set
— Outcome: playing time, the breakthrough, the recognition
The Outcome is created by the Response — not by the position.
The default is to match your effort to your current role. Third string gives third-string effort. That’s the crowd on the Mountain of Average.
Discipline is paying the starter’s price from the scout team. That’s what separates the guys who break through from the guys who stay stuck.
You can chase excellence today, or you can chase approval and comfort.
One builds something. The other just blends in.
Never Stop Getting Better.

"Better than yesterday" beats "better than them" because you can actually measure it.
Their highlight reel isn't a scoreboard you have access to. Yesterday's version of you is.
Compete there. #BeatYesterday

It’s Conference Season! The best conference takeaway isn’t always a brand new strategy. Sometimes it’s a sharper lens for seeing the strengths, systems, and people you already have in front of you. Start with recognizing what’s already worth protecting. #LeadFromWhoYouAre

The hardest days in school leadership don't require you to pretend everything is okay. They require you to stay human and to keep feeling, keep caring, and keep choosing to be present anyway.
