Just got a message from Mr. Salim a topper from his NIT, working in Bangalore with a ₹43.5 LPA package laid off last month. The company handed him just 3 months’ severance.
Last year alone, he paid ₹11.22 lakhs in income tax. In just 5 years, over ₹30 lakhs gone into the system, and in return, he got zero support. No safety net. No job security. No respect for his contribution.
Now jobless, thankfully without a home loan, he’s using his savings and severance to pay for his children's education, ₹1.95 lakh per child, per year. That’s where his "reward" is going.
Worse, he fell into depression. He said he felt like he was suddenly on the road, abandoned from every direction. The same government he paid lakhs to in taxes betrayed him the moment he needed it most.
He asked me to keep his identity anonymous, so I’m just sharing his initial, Mr. Salim.
This is what happens to genuine taxpayers in India. You pay. You comply. You contribute. And when you're in crisis, you're on your own.
This country desperately needs to change. Because right now, it's failing the very people who carry it forward.

With citizens aged 60+ in India crossing 10% of the total population, and expected to grow in the coming decades, conversations about retirement communities are common.

Post elections, as we see debates on reforms vs freebies, a reminder that this is the lens through which the privileged see the world
Corporate tax reduction = Reform
Capital gains tax cut = Reform
Near free land to industry = Reform
Near free IIT/IIM/ University education = My birthright*
Free/subsidized food to the poor = Fiscal profligacy
Free healthcare = Revadi
Reservations = Anti-merit
I still remember when MGR was promoting the mid day meal scheme in Tamilnadu schools, how much breast-beating there was in financial papers that this was undesirable spending.
And yet that changed the outcome in terms of education and Human development for the state.
Simply put: anything that benefits the privileged is classified under Reform whereas anything benefiting the under privileged, even if it is in health & education without which the country/economy can't prosper, is 'a waste of taxpayer money', Anti-merit etc
All the people who got heavily subsidized education in Universities, IITs and IIMs, esp those who went abroad & didn't even pay taxes in India to compensate...have their knickers in a twist because women who travel in buses are getting a subsidy or someone is getting cheap rice!
Arey Bhai, one of the objectives of taxation IS some amount of redistribution, at least to ensure basics for the poorer segments.
Aap logon ka kya khayal hai?
* Yes I know IIMs charge more now but most social media warriors studied there when that wasn't the case

Criticize the Pune Court discreetly. Don't let anger make you say too much.
He can get bail by writing an essay even after killing two people, but we won't get off with just an essay on 'I love Indian judiciary' and working as an orderly for 15 days in a district court. Aapko seedha 14 din judicial custody mein bhejenge.

Appreciate the progress and allowing the passage of 2 and 4 wheelers. Board exams have started. It is a great help.
Request @jbnagartrfps to ensure no traffic congestion during school hours. Children have to reach examination centres on time.

Instead Modi govt ensures a sharply declining vaccination drive.
