Timber Creek High School head basketball coach Ernest J. Mims joined us at RevoStudios for Coaches Corner to discuss the values that define his program and the importance of developing young men beyond basketball.
Coach Mims emphasizes the “ten things that require zero talent,” including work ethic, dedication, punctuality, coachability and accountability. For him, those qualities are just as important as anything that happens between the lines.
“We haven’t said anything about X’s and O’s. These are just things that are character things.”
Mims believes the ultimate goal isn’t simply sending players to the next level, but preparing them to become successful men long after their playing days are over.

It’s about more than just wins and losses at Timber Creek!
Timber Creek boys basketball head coach Ernest Mims joined us at RevoStudios for Coaches Corner to discuss the standards, culture and expectations surrounding the Falcons’ program.
Coach Mims emphasized the importance of developing young men who represent their school, families and community with pride, while bringing discipline, character and relentless effort to the court.
For Mims, the goal is to put a team on the floor that fans can be proud of, one that plays with intensity, pays attention to detail and makes every opponent earn everything they get.
