Something I was thinking about earlier re βwhy do queer people always compare their oppression to anti black racismβ is that anti black racism is a framework that almost any person you talk to is going to have a frame of reference for
Not only is it not bad to compare oppressions, comparing oppressions, recognizing their resonances is exactly what transforms movements from chauvinist and particularist to genuinely emancipatory. This is true even if those oppressions differ in intensity or other ways.
It has always been the reactionary chauvinists who reject comparison, who refuse to see themselves in others.

queers on twt do this thing where they only engage with white trans women and call their transfeminist opinions stupid because theyre white, and when black and brown trans women express similar sentiments they just ignore them or pretend theyre white, which is absurly racist imo.
The goal is to minimize homophobia. It's a line that black bigots and reactionaries have used for literal years now, at least since the arguments around gay marriage, and always the earnest students of their conservative allies, some black "radicals" are doing the same.
Virtually 100% of cases of people saying "don't compare x oppression to y oppression" statements are made with the intention of explaining why one x oppression is not a big deal. It is just another thought terminating cliche.

Itβs ironic that every time this discourse flares up the βyou just donβt understand what itβs like to be Black, so your comparisons between racism and homophobia are invalidβ crowd inevitably reveals a shocking (and obviously bigoted) ignorance about what itβs like to be queer.

Whatever segments of DSA are aligned with the βwe must lie to the masses and ourselves to winβ approach are the ones for which I donβt have any respect, and Iβm afraid that it seems there are a lot of those people?
In 3 years there will be DSA people explaining to us why the future of socialism depends on endorsing pro-life candidates in purple states.
This kind of pitiful political thinking is in every way identical to Qanon stupidity.
