"I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal," Trump continued in his post. "Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them." Clearly, Trump and his campaign are worried that their deep connections to Project 2025 are going to hurt his election chances. Most Americans don't support Christian Nationalism and Project 2025 is fully committed to instituting theocratic, authoritarian rule by a minority of far-right religious radicals. Recently, Kevin Roberts — the head of the Heritage Foundation think tank behind Project 2025 — promised a "second American Revolution" and said that it would "remain bloodless if the left allows it to be." No matter what Trump might put in his Truth Social posts, he supports this movement. If he wins the election, he'll have no choice but to pander to the people that put him in office. That means a national abortion ban, attacks on IFV, the overturning of gay marriage, a mass deportation program ripped right out of a dystopian novel, and more. Never trust Donald Trump. Trump has also been furiously demanding that Joe Biden take a drug test ahead of the debate. Clearly, he's terrified that Biden is going to thrash him and is lining up a string of excuses for when he does. By setting low expectations for his own performance, Trump is attempting to blunt the impact of what is sure to be an embarrassing performance on his part. Trump's MAGA minions are also doing their best to prime his supporters for defeat on Thursday. "The media wants to lower Joe Biden’s debate performance bar so low he gets a participation trophy simply for standing upright for 90 minutes, but make no doubt about it — Biden will be highly prepared and alert on debate night, relying on the same perfectly calibrated dosage used to deliver his widely praised 2024 State of the Union Address or his 2012 thrashing of Paul Ryan in the VP debate," said Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung. A Biden campaign official hit Trump for his "transparent" effort to blame everyone but himself for his looming failure. "We see this as Trump setting the predicate for if and when he has a bad night," the official told NBC News, although they weren't authorized to speak publicly. "When Trump feels he might lose, he sets that permission structure to create excuses for himself. ... He likes to throw a tantrum."
