Yes! @KJWinEducation. The question is: Do we have the will to teach all children to read? Remember y’all - reading is the epicenter of equity and liberatory education, not high dose tutoring.

Pay attention everyone. This is the challenge: The conflating of teaching reading and the science of reading with being only about “phonics”. Educate yourselves, friends. Every teacher is a reading teacher. That includes fluency, word study (vocabulary), and comprehension.

Great discussion on #SEL in schools - purpose, appropriateness, what it is & isn't. Whether a formal curriculum or not, kids are learning about themselves & others all the time. & agree - some of confusion is b/c folks want to make it the fix-all for everything wrong in schools.
