Getting your flu shot may do more than protect against the flu: evidence now shows that the shot may protect against cognitive decline. Studies now link routine adult vaccination to a lower risk of Alzheimer's and other dementias in older adults. The lower risk applies not only to the flu vaccine, but also to the shingles vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, and the diptheria, pertussis tetanus vaccine (Tdap). If you want to protect your body and brain, stay vaccinated.

WOW! A tornado occurred IN ALASKA Saturday. This is near the Alpine Creek Lodge midway between Anchorage and Fairbanks. There are only six tornadoes on record in Alaska dating back to 1950. And for the tornado to condense all the way to the ground!? Bonafide supercell.

Illinois has ALREADY crushed their state record for the number of tornadoes in one year. The old record was 142 (2024) and this year we are approaching 200 tornadoes after this weekends spinners. Illinois has seen more tornadoes than any other state since 2015 according to an article from @nbcchicago late last week. It’s the third time in the last four years Illinois has led the country in tornadoes. TX holds the record for the most tornadoes in a single year with 244 back in 2015. That data set goes back to 1950. Phones and a sprawling population certainly allow us to miss very little these days. No one knows where the rest of the year goes in IL After a very low tornado count in May, June has brought us back above average for 2026 nationally.

Look up . The sky is putting on a show you won't see again until 2028. A rare Blue Moon is rising on May 30, peaking in the early hours of May 31 at 8:45 UTC. It's the second full moon of May, and the first time two full moons have shared a single calendar month since August 2023. But the moon isn't doing this alone. Venus and Jupiter are lining up low in the western sky just after sunset. Mars and Saturn are climbing in the east before dawn. Mercury joins the western evening lineup too. Four planets. One Blue Moon. One sky. Here's the kicker — this isn't just any full moon. It's the smallest full moon of the entire year, sitting roughly 252,360 miles away at its farthest point from Earth. A micromoon. A Blue Moon. A planet parade. All at once. The moon will glow right next to Antares, the red heart of Scorpius, on May 30. For the best view of the planetary lineup, step outside 30 to 45 minutes after sunset and look west. Set an alarm before dawn if you want to catch Mars and Saturn rising in the east. And no, despite the name, the moon won't actually look blue. The name comes from the calendar quirk, not the color. The next one like this won't happen until December 2028. Don't blink.

🇺🇸 Take a minute to reflect on the hallowed grounds of the Normandy American Cemetery in France on this Memorial Day. Perched on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach — the very site where our heroes launched the greatest assault for liberty in human history — lie the final resting places of 9,389 American warriors who gave their last full measure of devotion during D-Day in World War II. These are not just graves. They are monuments to American courage, sacrifice, and the fierce belief that freedom is worth dying for. Among them: • 307 Unknown Soldiers — forever honored, never forgotten. • 1,557 names inscribed on the Walls of the Missing — their spirits still watching over the cause they served. • 45 pairs of brothers who fought and fell together. • Three Medal of Honor recipients and four heroic American women buried side by side with their brothers-in-arms. This sacred cemetery was established on June 8, 1944, just days after the invasion. This was the first American WWII cemetery on European soil. A permanent reminder that when evil threatened the world, America answered the call. To every American who stormed those beaches, climbed those cliffs, and never came home: Your blood bought our tomorrow. Because of you, the light of liberty still shines bright across the globe. We will never forget. We will never falter. God Bless our Fallen Heroes. God Bless the United States of America. ❤️🤍💙
