I think the NZ economy needs more rolling wagons with exports.
Train tripping from Newcastle to Sydney and coming to terms with how much smaller our economy really is.
This elections it seems it's a contest to see who can destroy that small pie best and not who can grow it.
Happy a list customer that cooks with some of our veggies. Beetroots in this dish.
@ rata restaurant Queenstown.
Not bad for October weights.
Target is 100kg on the 1st of Dec.
My calf rearer is doing a good job and she won't stop rubbing it in on to her brothers.
Life is better with my kids around me.
Got the last of the spring spuds in. 2 varieties of whites, a red, a yellow and a high starch variety for the bail wrap.
Will do another 3ha in Nov and another lot in Feb.
Coffee and painkillers must be among man's greatest inventions.
Back at the kitchen table where all great ideas start.
True soil compostable and animal edible bailage wrap.
It has taken us 2yrs to get to proof of concept

Some Ballard's are meant to be played at full blast going through the devil's staircase going home after a successful trip.
Taking every win.
We are Go for launch!!
Thank you Hamilton, it's been a vely successful short trip blowing bubbles. Now for 3am dash to the airport. Fortunately I don't get a hangover and can run on very little sleep.

On paper, I’m in my 50’s & it’s really confusing…
In my head, I’m 35.
At a concert, I’m 25
After 10pm, I’m 72.
Getting up off the floor, I’m 93.
When someone makes me mad, I’m 2
BUT-
When an 80’s song comes on,
I’m 17, drunk in a field, & my mom thinks I’m at a sleepover
🤪
Making the most of the 5 minutes break in the weather.
We are past worrying about the quality of the seedbed. Will deal to that at harvest time. At least some of the Christmas spuds are in the ground.
A break in the weather gave us an opportunity to test our upgraded seeder. Planting Carrots and beetroots for our Christmas and Lakes district customers.
Happy days.
Funny that!
A few days ago there was a comparison posted between her star and someone else's.
Dolly's had flowers and the other was hardly recognizable. With some people, only nice things must belong to their idols(gods).
The soil has been saturated for so long the earthworms have come up for air and the seagulls are having a feast.
Never mind me being behind with my Christmas plantings.
Looking back I don't remember ever doing it easy. My wife recently reminded me of something I said when we were dating after she asked me about my career choices. I said "I like a challenge, easy gets boring."
Now with lupus I don't remember what it's like not to have pain.
Sometimes life and work is just too much.
And you’re going to look at everything you have to do and think... there is absolutely no f*cking way I can do all of this.
I’ve been there. A go to of wine and sitting at the bar to get through it. Hard truth though, you cannot white-knuckle misery forever.
You have to find something you love inside the thing that’s hard. Maybe you just love proving to yourself that you can do hard things.
Find the part that makes the miserable part worth it.
Some seasons aren’t meant to feel balanced.
They’re meant to be survived.
Head down.
Find something to love about the work.
Keep going.
We knew this all along.
Climate crisis is about one world government control.
It was great to finally have someone admit the truth: climate doomerism is about one world government, ending democracy and impoverishing the world.
The idea that we must impoverish humanity to save it is not just absurd, it's a suicide pact. Sovereign nations will never accept it, and people will never vote for it.
I don't believe in suicide for token gestures towards not solving a problem you're claiming to solve.
Keep pounding on them doors and one day yours will open.
If I fail, it's not for a lack of trying.
I speak for a lot of men when I say this:
A man can be running on 4 hours of sleep.
He can stay up until 2 AM and still wake up at 6.
He can have more bills than money in his account.
He can be buried in debt.
He can be broke as hell.
He can be carrying problems he hasn't told a single person about.
He can be lonely.
He can feel like nobody notices his effort and nobody is coming to save him.
Yet somehow, he keeps moving.
He goes to work.
He shows up.
He keeps trying.
He keeps building.
Because deep down, most men carry a stubborn belief that things will get better.
Not today.
Maybe not tomorrow.
But eventually.
The business will grow.
The debt will get paid.
The hard work will pay off.
The bad season will pass.
It's not always confidence.
Sometimes it's pure faith.
Faith that if they keep showing up, keep grinding, and refuse to quit, one day everything they've been fighting for will finally work out.
And honestly, that quiet faith is what keeps a lot of men going.
Tonight's 1 news lead story was on the Canterbury school's poor water quality due to high nitrate levels and the obvious culprit is dairy. But when the deeper well also tested high something did not add up. I found this report from 1930 and nitrate was an issue.

This is from this book.

Christchurch library has a few copies.
The greens will tell you High Nitrate is becuse of dairy farming and we should kill all the cows but this has more to do with the geology of the region.
Great idea. We host woofers at our place and we have met some wonderful travelers from overseas. Some just want an opportunity to get their hands dirty. Pull a carrot from the ground, wipe it on their shirt sleeve, munch on it and go wow, is this really what food tastes like.
