National Electronics Museum

Come visit NEM next week before we close for our annual Winter Break!

This year, one of our major donors made an unexpected funding decision that will directly impact museum operations in the near future, including requiring NEM to move to a new site. This #GivingTuesday, consider donating to NEM so we can continue our STEM-focused mission.

Electronica Music Fest 2020 is coming soon! We've taken it online with a Phantom Fest. On Nov 7th we'll release videos of an awesome lineup of electronic musicians interacting with the museum in innovative new performances. youtube.com/watch?v=pDefuqBo…

The awesome folks at @marylandpubtv took a moment to talk with NEM Director Mike Simons! If you're watching MPT in the next month, you might just catch this spot featuring Mike and NEM between shows. youtu.be/_DSPBGx2l58

NEM's Manual Collection is primarily a resource of electronic Technical Manuals, but also includes a few very low-tech Training Manuals like this delightful one on all the basics of Pigeoneering. Internet giving you trouble? No problem, you can learn to communicate via pigeon!

Museum Educator Sam may now be known as "The Girl in the Nacelle". (Alternative caption: what museum staff goes through to keep our outdoor exhibits bird proof.)

If you ever wondered what museum staff gets up to when there are no visitors around, watch to the end of this video in which Director Mike Simons talks about the technology and impact of the Shure 55 microphone. And demonstrates. youtu.be/eraqT7n137E

The museum is still temporarily closed to help stop the spread of COVID-19, but Arthur C. Clarke remains at his post just outside our doors to greet visitors when they can return! In the meantime, you can visit our Remote Learning Resources page: nationalelectronicsmuseum.or…
