Professional update! I’m excited to be joining @Sheng_Peng at @sjhockeynow as the sites first PWHL San Jose beat writer. Check out my first piece, an update from Troy Ryan on Corinne Schroeder’s injury⬇️⬇️
Welcome @Eli_Fastiff!
Eli is SJHN's first @PWHL_SanJose beat writer.
Here's his first story, Troy Ryan's first public comments about starting goalie Corinne Schroeder's potentially serious injury.
What are his options if Schroeder isn't ready for camp? sanjosehockeynow.com/pwhl-sa…

There was no clarification on if league average would increase. Most teams had a lot of available money this offseason due to player dispersal in free agency. But it will just bring more toward the middle as is.
This is interesting, but from my understanding, increasing the minimum salary doesn't actually mean players make more money as a group. The PWHL uses an "average" salary structure: the average of each team's contracts must be within 10% of $60,100 for the 2026-27 season.

BREAKING:
According to sources and a document received, the PWHL is set to increase league minimum salaries beyond the 3% outlined in the CBA, they'll increase roster sizes this season, and are set to do away with reserves.

PWHL San Jose forward Sloane Matthews had a tough senior team debut. Lining up as the USA's extra forward, she missed a PK coverage assignment that directly led to Canada's first goal (video in next tweet). Here's part of what head coach John Wroblewski said after the game:
Unsurprisingly, Kristin O’Neill is on Canada’s top penalty killing unit. The PWHL San Jose forward scored a shorthanded goal in the gold medal game at the Olympics last winter.

No Rory Guilday for team USA, but Laila Edwards and Sloane Matthews are suiting up tonight in Windsor.
International road trip! I’ll have live coverage of tonight’s pre-worlds exhibition game between the US and Canada which could feature up to four PWHL San Jose players. Stay tuned for updates
