There’s a theory that Voldemort knew fully that Narcissa was lying to him, and he decided to play along with it. Before you think that sounds ludicrous there is a very obvious reason why he would do this. Voldemort, the most powerful Dark Wizard in history, tried to kill baby Harry and failed. Not only did he fail, but he almost died attempting it. In the Goblet of Fire, again, Voldemort tried to kill Harry, and again, Harry escaped. In Order of The Phoenix Harry foiled Voldemort’s plans and AGAIN left their encounter unharmed. Everyone knew of these failures from Voldemort. So fast forward to the forest. ALL of the Death Eaters watched as Harry walked into the forest, by himself, no wand, completely defenseless, and simply allowed Voldemort to Avada Kedavra him. Do you realize the PANDEMONIUM that would take place if Harry just stood up after getting hit with the Killing curse, surviving Voldemort AGAIN? Voldemort would lose every supporter he had. His reputation would be completely smeared. There might even be a revolt. Knowing that it wouldn’t be good, Voldemort simply went with Narcissas lie. Something that supports this is when they’re all in the Great Hall and Harry revealed himself to be alive. Everyone was in shock and let out surprised cries. Everyone except Voldemort. Once Harry announced for no one to intervene between the two, Voldemort simply started circling Harry and taunting him. Not once did he seem surprised that Harry just popped back to life. He didn’t so much as give a “how is this possible?
