Navigating the Web3 Trough of Disillusionment 🦂 When we reach a place on the journey where there are more questions than answers, it’s because there is need for experimentation and discovery vs. doing more of the same. Banging our heads against the wall using the same old methods only gets us so far. It doesn’t make sense to be jaded by Web3, when we don’t yet know what’s truly possible. If you’ve been here a while, it makes sense to be hurt, to be numb, because the shimmering veneer of one version of a promised land, ie the peak of inflated expectations, has disintegrated in an explosion of fraud, incompetence, speculation, greed and over leveraging. This is real pain. Still, there are no norms in Web3 yet, aside from the ones we project onto ourselves. Looking ahead, there is only possibility in this volatile land, constrained by the net effect of our collective behavior. Do we continue playing PVP? Or is there some version of a collective, sustainable game we can play together? When the road ahead is foggy, the good news is it becomes ripe territory for tinkering, for trying something new. The only path ahead is to push the boundaries and explore the frontier, because the current boundaries have proven insufficient.
