I'm slowly realising that the Venn diagram of numbers-obsessed “video editors,” AI jackoffs, and people actively erasing storytelling from content is just a circle. storytelling is the very base of entertainment for centuries leading up to what it's looking like today. stories were passed down through word of mouth before being developed into writing, theatre performances in amphitheatres, and eventually the mediums we know today: film, theatre, and digital content. I'm so tired of "video editors" coming into my DMs and telling me that they can make 1000+ shorts per week while exploiting a smaller editor on the other side of the world and calling that an "automated system". Reducing creative work to numbers, algorithms, and engagement metrics while disregarding the very thing that gives it meaning is completely missing the point. Sorry, I saw another one of those twt clips of a "video editor" talking about how gen AI is going to replace us as soon as next year. No, it won't. Art isn't just about having a finished product + profit. It's about human expression, creativity, and storytelling. Whether it's digital, performing, or literary arts, you cannot automate the human experience behind them. I refuse to believe anyone who is in touch with the arts would ever promote such dystopian ideas and glorify adult cocomelon. ***Storytime for the ones who stayed all the way through the rant: Bro slid into my DMs to pitch me something, kept pushing it, and even followed up in a VERY HUMAN, conversational way.
