For a new store, holding inventory and handling fulfillment in-house was expensive and complicated. Now orders ship directly to customers through Ingram, no stock to carry. And with the search feature, when a customer walks in asking for a title that isn’t on the shelf, staff point them to the website: they search, order, and the book arrives, whether or not it was ever imported.
Tiffany also mentions the monthly plan as a help for managing cash flow while the store finds its footing online.
