More than 99% of prairies in IL have been destroyed. Bell Bowl Prairie, one of the lucky few to survive, is to be turned into a road. A road which could be redesigned to simply not pave over the prairie. Thousands of years of history to be needlessly converted into concrete.
📣 Hey Governor Pritzker, reroute the road, save the prairie❗ Call 312-814-2121 to tell the nice office staff you support Illinois nature & Gov. Pritzker needs to take action. Bell Bowl Prairie must be PERMANENTLY protected as an Illinois Nature Preserve. #SaveBellBowlPrairie

Over 1000 EcoFlora observations were made last year. The most observations were made on common milkweed, A. syrica, with a whopping 196! Do we think we can break 200 in 2022? Visit budburst.org/chicago-ecoflor… to learn more about Budburst EcoFlora. #ChicagoEcoFlora

We wonder how this is affecting plant phenology in these areas! Submit an observation on a plant near you to help us find out!
Our 6-10 day temperature outlook favors below normal temperatures for early January for the mountains and valleys. Overall, our entire region will see cooler temperatures for the new year. #COwx
