❤️🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo’s full letter to Portuguese fans.
“To the Portuguese people,
The day has come to hand back the shirt and the captain's armband of the national team that belongs to all of us.
I never felt that it was exclusively mine, but for 23 years, I had the privilege and responsibility of wearing it, defending it, and carrying it with me to stadiums all around the world.
Today, the moment has come to pass it on to the future.
It was not an easy decision, because some decisions are not made with the head alone. They are also made with the heart.
I am bringing to an end a journey that began in August 2003 and changed my life forever.
When I look back and think about everything I experienced with the national team, I don't just see matches, goals, records, or trophies. I see people.
I see immigrants who, for 90 minutes, felt a little closer to Portugal. I see millions of Portuguese people whom I never met personally, but who became part of my life.
Because, at the end of the day, football is much bigger than a game. Football is about people.
Throughout my entire career with the national team, I always tried to push beyond my limits. I wanted to win, I wanted to be the best, I wanted to make history.
I was always demanding of myself. I always wanted more. I always believed we could go further, and I gave everything I had for this shirt.
There were perfect afternoons and nights. There were victories I will never forget. There were defeats that still hurt to remember today.
I also failed. I also suffered. There were moments when I couldn't give the Portuguese people what they wanted so badly. But I never gave up.
And above all, I never stopped feeling proud to represent Portugal.
Over these years, I learned some very simple things: goals come and go, trophies end up in museums, records are eventually broken, but there is something that time can never erase.
The place I hold in people's hearts.
If I ever made you happy, if one of my goals ever made you hug someone, forget a worry, or feel proud of our country, then it was all worth it.
Because being Portuguese is also about that.
We suffer together. We get back up together. We believe again.
Portugal will always need young people who dream, players who never give up, and new generations who believe it is possible to reach places no one has reached before.
Because a country that continues to create new heroes is a country that never stops believing in itself.
To my national team teammates, I want to leave a special message.
Thank you for every run, every hug, every argument, every moment of silence before stepping onto the pitch, every victory we celebrated together, and every defeat that made us stronger.
I had the privilege of being your captain, but no captain walks alone, and you are all part of my story.
To all the coaches, directors, doctors, physiotherapists, kit managers, staff members, and the many people who worked with me throughout these years, thank you.
Many of you never appeared in the photographs, but without you, none of those photographs would have been possible.
To my family, thank you for sharing this dream with me.
Thank you for understanding the absences, the sacrifices, and the moments when the national team had to take up a space that also belonged to you.
If I made it this far, it was because we always walked hand in hand.
And to the Portuguese people, to every Portuguese person around the world, I want to tell you one last thing.
There is an image that I will always carry with me.
A moment when the national anthem begins.
I look around me. I see my teammates. I see the stands.
I see children, mothers, fathers, and grandparents. I see Portuguese people who travelled from so far away just to be there.
And during those moments, we stop being different.
There are no clubs. There are no colors. There are no classes. There are no professions. There are no opinions.
There is only one passion: Portugal”.

Uganda’s preparations for #COP31 are an opportunity to agree on national climate priorities and the support needed to put them into action.
This Tuesday, 3rd November 2026, Uganda’s Pre-COP31 National Forum will take place at Silver Springs Hotel, Kampala. The forum is convened by the Climate Change and Carbon Trade Department of the Ministry of Water & Environment.
For Uganda Development Bank, climate finance is an important part of this conversation. Access to financing can help businesses adapt to climate change, protect livelihoods and invest in sustainable growth. Strong partnerships can help turn Uganda’s climate goals into practical projects that benefit people and the economy.

It was an honour to be part of the Uganda Climate Innovation Challenge (UCIC) 2026 “The Final Pitch Event”
As Youth Member of Parliament for Northern Uganda, I believe climate action and youth employment must go hand in hand. Our young people are not just beneficiaries of development; they are innovators, job creators and drivers of sustainable solutions.
Congratulations to the six winners sharing the UGX 37 million grant and all 12 finalists for their outstanding innovations in clean energy, circular economy, regenerative agriculture and climate storytelling.
I also commend the launch of the National Waste Pickers Association. Our waste pickers deserve dignity, recognition, safer working conditions and a seat at the table in shaping our environmental policies.
My call to Government, financial institutions and the private sector is to invest in youth-led innovations through accessible financing, skills development and market opportunities.
To our young innovators: keep creating, keep pushing boundaries. Uganda’s green future is not waiting to happen, you are building it today.

As we continue to encourage innovation in renewable energy, @MEMD_Uganda joined the #UCIC2026 #UgandaClimateInnovationChallenge Final Pitch hosted by @GayoUganda and @YCCUganda, celebrating youth-led green innovations and the launch of the National Waste Pickers Association.
Delivering Green Economy remarks on behalf of the Commissioner, Energy Resources Department, Eng. Herbert Abigaba noted that 99% of Uganda's grid power is renewable. The task now is getting clean energy into homes and businesses, and putting it to work.
Under the Mission 300 Energy Compact, Government plans 10.4 million new connections and at least 300,000 green jobs by 2030, with clean cooking reaching half of all households. Every one of these targets is a market for young innovators.
On the Green Economy panel, Ms. @JayAkumu represented the Ministry, highlighting the solutions to some of the barriers young innovators face in clean cooking and waste-to-energy, and the practical support needed: affordable financing, reliable waste supply, anchor customers and quality standards.
To the waste pickers launching their Association: You are already the first link in the waste-to-energy chain.
Congratulations to all #UCIC2026 finalists and Winners. The door of the Clean Cooking Unit is open.

Yesterday, We celebrated Uganda's boldest youth-led green economy innovations at the Uganda Climate Innovation Challenge (UCIC) 2026! For our young people, climate action and youth employment are not two separate conversations, they are the exact same conversation. A massive congratulations to our 6 winners who shared a 37 million UGX grant pool, and to all 12 incredible finalists across Circular Economy, Clean Energy Innovation, Circular Regenerative Agriculture, and Climate Art and Storytelling.
We also proudly witnessed the official launch of the National Waste Pickers Association. You have been doing critical circular economy work long before the rest of us learned the term, and your efforts keep our cities clean. You deserve occupational health and safety, full recognition, and a rightful seat at the table with Government, KCCA, NEMA, and recyclers. Achieving Uganda's Tenfold Growth Strategy target and lowering youth unemployment means actively backing our young innovators and frontline workers.
To our banks and development partners, please design financial products that fit them without demanding land titles, and to the private sector, let your company be their first big customer. Our youth aren't just waiting for the jobs of tomorrow, they are creating them today!
