So, @iamveektoria_ saved my buisness from crashing. Here is a little back story.👇 I built an app called LINGUAl-lyft. It was a basic simple web3 app to help africans especially to learn foreign language to get remote jobs. It has a very clean UI, smart AI and people loved the idea. I was happy at the launch of the app. After 2 months i had only 50 downloads and 12 active users. Trust me, i was devastated. I have great fear for failure so it told on my face that i was really scared. I told my mentor @iamveektoria_ about my challenge and she set up a meeting with me to analyze what the problem was. Very smart woman. She dissected it! MY PROBLEM? I focused only on the feature of the app, the beauty, the functionality and the lessons to be learnt on the app. THE SOLUTION. Veeky told me to open a small community group instead of adding more features to the app. Immediately she said this, i instantly realized that i was to think in this direction. So i added the 12 active persons to the group and a few friends who are not scared to give honest reviews no matter how harsh it is. I was shocked at comments in the group when i asked a life changing question Veeky asked me to; "WHY ARE YOU GUYS REALLY USING THIS APP"? Then, answers came flooding in, 1) I want to learn to japa. 2) I need to learn to get jobs both in web2 and web3. 3) I don't want to feel stuck again. 4) I have love for learning new languages. I noticed that there is more to interacting with my app than just the features. I went back to Veeky and told her what i noticed and we drafted something short. We simply: 1) Created Job hangout meetings 2) Allowed community to chose what feature they feel should be added to the app. 3) Added a section where the community shared wins. Within three months the community were not just learning but encouraging one another, sharing wins, tagging each other and having healthy competions. Within these three months also, downloads jumped from 50 to 3000. Users created memes about the app and for those who missed weekly meetings. It was fun. Before long users answered questions online before i and my team got to see them. They onboarded people seamlessly without pressure and my app was set to go to the moon. LESSON LEARNT. For the success of a product or project never underestimate the power of building and integrating a solid community. Your product is your tool. Yes! But your community becomes the movement that takes it to the top. PEOPLE DON'T STICK TO PRODUCT. THEY STICK TO PEOPLE. #Growthwithveek #growthinweb3
