#TDF2027 - Montmartre has been removed from the route.
2027 finish in Paris will be a classic Champs-Elysees sprint.

In my opinion, for this route you either need to be an exceptional rider who can make the difference on the climbs, or you need to be someone who have a good punch and a strong sprint from a reduced group.
In the men's race, given the quality of the field, I think this parcours particularly suits the all-round riders who combine climbing ability with explosiveness. I'm thinking about riders such as Remco Evenepoel, Isaac Del Toro and Paul Seixas.
At the same time, riders such as Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel could also play a very important role.
My pick for the victory, though, is Remco Evenepoel.
What happened in Montréal wasn't exactly an ideal performance from Remco. He clearly wasn't at his best there.
But has made it very clear that winning both the time trial and the road race is a major objective for him. The time trial is already done, which was the easier of the two goals. Now comes the much harder part.
We know it won't be easy, but when Remco has a specific objective, he is incredibly difficult to stop from achieving it. I think he is the main contender here, and he is my pick for the world title.
That said, I would pay very close attention to Paul Seixas.
I've had a feeling throughout this entire week that Seixas could win this race. He seems to be getting back to the version of himself we saw at the beginning of the season a dominant Seixas, incredibly strong and aggressive.
The main question is whether the parcours is hard enough for him to completely distance riders like Remco or Del Toro. If he can't, then I think the sprint becomes a problem for him, because I would favour both Remco and Del Toro against him in that situation.
Isaac Del Toro is another extremely strong contender.
Del Toro doesn't have quite the same depth of support around him but he is one of the biggest favourites. He is clearly in excellent form, coming off a victory at the Grand Prix de Montréal, and he has everything he needs to win this.
Then we have the next group of contenders, led for me by Wout van Aert.
We saw the old Van Aert again at the Vuelta, and it will be interesting to see exactly what level he can bring to these World Championships. If he is the same Van Aert we saw at the Vuelta, then he has everything he needs to fight for a huge result here.
Tom Pidcock is another very strong contender and also appears to be in excellent form. He has sometimes fallen a little short of expectations at the World Championships, but I think this is a World Championship parcours that is genuinely made for his characteristics.
Brandon McNulty is another rider I would watch very closely. He is also in excellent form, and he loves this type of parcours. For me, he is a very solid candidate for a top result.
And then there is Mathieu van der Poel.
I don't rank him quite as highly, and there are a few reasons for that.
Yes, he produced that incredible solo victory in Luxembourg, but he did it against a field that, in my opinion, wasn't comparable to the quality of riders he will face here.
His other performances haven't been quite as convincing. He took things easier in the other stages, and although he won the opening stage, the attack he made was actually brought back by a young and unknown rider Eike Behrens, before the peloton eventually caught them both.
Van der Poel himself has also suggested that he considers the parcours to be perhaps a little too hard for him. And I have some doubts as well. Still you can't ever rule him out!
There are plenty of other riders I could talk about, but there isn't space here and these are the main names I mainly wanted to highlight.
Overall, I think we are in for a very difficult and very tactical World Championship, with several different scenarios possible.
