My lab will focus on applying #cryoEM and enzymology approaches towards open questions about enzyme function and regulation in human health and disease. I’m excited to be able to teach science like how we do science and provide a training platform for students to learn #cryoEM.

A new study from @thisismadani, @nikhil_ai, @fraser_lab, and colleagues describe a deep-learning language model that learns “grammatical” rules to write novel protein sequences with defined functions. @chang_c_liu liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/g…

Excited to have our paper on using large language models like ChatGPT for protein design come out in @NatureBiotech! You can tell a language model which type of protein to design, and it can generate one from scratch! nature.com/articles/s41587-0…

Really enjoyed revisiting my grad work and the world of site-specific ubiquitination for my first review article! Thanks to all who helped put this together!
Check out this new review on site-specific ubiquitination from our previous grad student @proteins_emma (now a postdoc with @GestwickiLab)! sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

This twirling work of science is special ✨ AFAIK, it's the first crystal structure of a functional #protein fully designed by #AI A milestone in our quest to use language models to generate proteins that are unseen in nature & can function well in the real-world. Read below👇

Fabulous - and tested - more than wishful thinking. Now - what shall we design ?

Great summaries of the work can be found here xitter.gq/nikhil_ai/status/14132…, xitter.gq/thisismadani/status/14…, xitter.gq/fraser_lab/status/1417…. I contributed in vitro biochemistry and a biology-centric perspective to the project.
