Demonstrate how to treat your partner men. Your kids are watching. I’m on a business trip and my wife is sick. She sent me this note about our 19 y.o. this morning

Generational patterns don't feel like patterns when you're inside them.
They feel like life.
The way your father handled conflict. The way his father handled emotion. The way going silent became the family language for something that never got a name.
You're not broken. You're downstream of something.
The difference matters — because what's downstream can change direction.

in a world where control, power and influence are the most valuable assets, you may be right.
But that's a world worth asking a question about - so then what?
Some of us believe rather than distance, we need mor proximity. Rather than control, we need more support. Rather than power, we need more liberty. And rather than influence, we need more generosity.
In a world of machiavellians, be someone without guile, pretence, or agenda. And watch others blossom around you

Life sometimes teaches boys that strength means not needing anything.
Then we wonder why the men they become are so hard to reach.
Somewhere in there, a little boy learned that his feelings were a burden. That needing people was weakness, or brought rejection.. That the safe move was to go it alone.
He's still in there. In a lot of us.
Strong Like Wildflowers means something different.
It means growing anyway. Reaching toward light even when the ground is hard.
Strong and soft at the same time.

30 minutes on a bike with my son this morning.
The ride won’t change his life, but enough moments like this just might.
It’s rarely about the activity.
It’s about consistently showing your kids they’re worth your time.

I've coached youth sports for 30+ seasons — boys and girls, every age from K-12.
I've seen what happens to kids who have a dad on the sideline versus kids who are scanning the crowd for someone who isn't there.
It's not subtle. It shows up in how they handle failure. How they receive correction. Whether they believe they're worth fighting for.
Presence isn't a bonus. It's the whole thing.

the first step to being A Good Father is being present
find a way to be present...make the game, ask about a day, walk together, listen to a long ramble about randomness when you wish they'd get to the point
your engagement is an electric charge for their hearts

the real alchemy is to take dark energy (your hurts, wounds, rejections, and the fear in the world) and flip it to light (healing, hope, encouragement, peace, grace, strength). You'll need help, and you can do it. You got this.

I lied to apple, google and microsoft about my children’s ages to maintain parental controls. It seemed like an obvious hack to me.
All of my children are well adjusted, have a clear sense of self, serve their communities with generosity and have zero identity confusion
Funny how that works when parents, not the matrix, raise their children
It is possible. Just don’t let the machine dictate the rules

If you’re taking this moment to be strong and hateful, you missed the point.
If you’re being soft, but cowardly, you missed the point.
Strong and Soft. The world needs you to be both.
That’s actually the main theme in #StrongLikeWildflowers and whether you read it or not, I hope you see you can be both. Life’s pain is not overcome with shells or with dealing out pain.
It is in overcoming tragedy with beauty and there is beauty both in strength and in gentleness.
You got this

I believe in something bigger than self, and which is outside of time… infinite.
Think about the grand arc of the universe. In context our life is not even a blink.
The impact of our life within our breathing years is not a drop in the ocean and yet, we may make an imprint for ages to come.
So the challenge- will you live a life oriented to the blink or will you set to work leaving a lasting imprint for generations and ages to come?
Are you busy serving a blip of self, acting in fear, chasing comfort, or are you leavingan echo of eternity which benefits all who come after you?
Choose a grander vision while you have the breath to do so

Ok truly unplugging for a bit…
Advice as I unplug…
Always be real, true, and kind
You never know who you’ll run into on the internet and who is watching to find out who you are
You also never know who needs the real and kind version of you, or a shoulder to lean on
Strong and soft (almost like a wildflower 😜)

I do not care about tariffs or culture wars. The matrix can puke out all the division it wants
History books should condemn our generation for all time if we can’t simply say…
Hands off our children and women
