I texted my children that we got the puppy they’ve been begging me for and sent them a link with pictures. 🐶When they clicked on the link, it took them to a webpage that said YOU’RE GROUNDED. They’ll be spending the weekend retaking our family’s cybersecurity training course.

Every year on 9/11 I take the kids to ground zero to write down names engraved in the memorial. Then we go home and look them up to talk about their stories. Today, my youngest was writing a name when a woman walked up and asked her what she was doing. When she explained, the woman gently asked “will you write down my son’s name too?” We spent the next few minutes talking to Morton Frank’s mother about his life. He was 31. When I asked her how she was holding up on the 25th anniversary she teared up and said, “same as every other day.” #neverforget

If you visit someone's house, and one of the first things you notice is the dust on their chandelier, the dust on their tv, the dust on their table, don't ever go back to that person's house. Not because their house isn't clean but because your heart isn't. Someone opened their door to you. They welcomed you into their home with an open heart. They shared their time, their food, their laughter and their space, and instead of appreciating their hospitality, you focused on their imperfections. That's says far more about you than it does about them because people with grateful hearts notice kindness.Before they notice flaws. It's about honoring the heart that welcomed you with love and kindness. And all you bring into someone's home is judgment and negativity. And maybe the place that needs cleaning isn't their house. It's your heart.

Jimmy Carr nailed something a lot of us feel but can’t explain.
We’re living better than 99.9% of humans who ever walked the earth, hot showers, modern medicine, endless entertainment, kids that actually survive infancy, yet so many of us feel miserable.
He calls it “life dysmorphia.” We get used to how good we have it (the hedonic treadmill), then compare ourselves to everyone else and tank our own happiness.
As he puts it: happiness = quality of life minus envy.
Marcus Aurelius put it perfectly: “Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself in your way of thinking.”
When was the last time you caught yourself feeling unhappy despite objectively having it pretty damn good?
