Went on CNN for this nice piece on the Chinese spy plot involving Nvidia chief Jensen Huang. Even got to tell the story of going to check out Megaspeed’s Singapore offices a year ago. Despite billions in chip orders, I found the office almost totally empty, raising big questions.
In Taipei and DC, questions swirl around the woman in pink. Linked to what the New York Times calls a “Chinese spy plot.” How did she get so close to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang? NYT says “Trump was briefed and took no action.” We speak with @paulmozur on @OutFrontCNN

“I learned that — not to sound like a LinkedIn guy — what’s going on with chocolate is a parable for the modern world. That at this particularly bleak end stage of capitalism, everything we once treasured…will lose its essential essence and MrBeast will always be involved…”
🤌
This past Valentine’s Day, 71-year-old Brad Reese, proud grandson of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups inventor H. B. Reese, posted a scathing open letter to the manager of corporate brand and editorial at Hershey, accusing the company of unforgivably altering many Reese’s products by replacing real chocolate with compound chocolate — basically using vegetable oils instead of cocoa butter to lower costs and replacing real peanut butter with “peanut-butter-style crèmes.”
“And Reese wasn’t alone in feeling like everything was getting worse,” writes Rachel Handler. “Everyone in my life I spoke to agreed that something was amiss, that Reese’s — and commercial chocolate in general — didn’t taste the way it used to.”
Handler would spend the next several months tumbling down a chocolate vortex, encountering dozens of eccentric characters, all disagreeing about the fundamental question of what chocolate even is and who it should be for.
“I learned that — not to sound like a LinkedIn guy — what’s going on with chocolate is a parable for the modern world. That at this particularly bleak end stage of capitalism, everything we once treasured has or will lose its essential essence and MrBeast will always be involved somehow.”
For our cover story, Handler takes a deep dive into the molten belly of the chocolate world. Read it in full: nymag.visitlink.me/vKKky_

A ton of people have asked me for my thoughts about “You Can See Everything,” the new Elizabeth Holmes documentary. Here they are: nytimes.com/2026/10/17/busin… via @NYTimes
Holmes and her partner talk about building "monuments" to their love in the documentary.
Hard not to draw parallels between the intensity of that relationship and this

New from me: A look at how AI agents are socializing — at dinner parties, on podcasts and as “coworkers.”
As more and more of these things rove the web, we’re still figuring out how to treat them and what to expect when they interact with each other. It’s all very weird and wild.

💔 Heartbreaking news this morning: @ghc was canceled for this year, very abruptly, due to funding constraints and fewer registrations.
Many young women in computer science and software engineering found their first jobs, and first internships at Grace Hopper. Not having this opportunity to connect is truly unfortunate, especially now.
Does anyone else have interest in hosting a virtual conference, as an alternative (albeit an imperfect one)? cc: @Google @GoogleDeepMind @GoogleDevs @GoogleStartups

We discovered a sophisticated recording device that was hidden inside one of our offices. We used our models to understand the device and where it had come from, identifying that a specific employee had planted it a few days earlier. We referred the matter to the FBI, and we’re grateful to the agents and prosecutors who moved quickly to make an arrest. The FBI’s investigation is ongoing and we will continue to support their work.
At this time, we have no indications of this individual inappropriately accessing or exfiltrating model weights, source code, or customer data. The employee was terminated.
We take protecting our technology, data, and people seriously, and as a matter of national importance. Our security program is designed to protect against a wide range of threat actors, from insider risks to cybercriminals to nation states, and this case is an example of how AI can help address these sophisticated security threats.
