These guys will just say anything. I ain't never seen the beat. Infinity Ward left behind last-gen, which cut into the player base. And Xbox scrapped the day-one Game Pass launch, which raises the barrier to entry for MW4.
That's it.
3 things that I think contributed to this that isn’t the typical cod fatigue
1. The release was way to close to GTA 6. People don’t have disposable income to buy two games right now.
2. People bought the black ops 1 and 2 ports and realized what a fun cod experience was
3. Reverting open matchmaking was a slap in the face to a lot of hardcore players
Yall don't think its even a little telling that these people who claim they're the good players think playing in their own skill bracket is a 'punishment'? That doesn't ding any alarm bells to yall??
Sarah Bond testified in federal court that Xbox Game Pass subscribers spend 40% more than non-subscribers, so you can miss me with the 'game pass people don't pay for things' nonsense.
Respectfully, this take sits oddly next to your own past comments. On Gamertag Radio you’ve said you “don’t care about exclusives,” that you “think exclusives are bad,” and that you “don’t like exclusives.” You’ve also publicly backed “Xbox Everywhere” and told people upset about multiplatform releases to just stop complaining and play something else.
Xbox spent years training its audience that day-one Game Pass is the intended way to play first-party games. Many of the people who wanted E-Day as an exclusive are exactly the ones who followed that model (subscription + premium upgrades rather than full-price purchases). Questioning them for not buying a game Microsoft deliberately put on Game Pass day one feels like shifting responsibility onto fans for a strategy the platform itself created and promoted.
The bigger cracks are on the Xbox side: the multiplatform push followed by a selective return to exclusives, reported studio leadership unhappiness with Game Pass devaluing their work, high development costs, and sales figures that look modest against those budgets even after weeks on the market. Fans didn’t invent that tension.

Great stories always find their audience. Congrats to @CallofDuty on Modern Warfare 4, recognized for its incredible story and authentic return to form. Great stories always resonate, and there’s more to come. #MW4
The "CoD should take 2 years off" argument is absolute insanity. What difference is 2 years going to make when studios have 4 years between launches already? Which team is supposed to take the sabbatical? There are over a dozen studios on CoD production and support.
Added a monitor light, which pushed my Soap and Ghost buddiez to one side. I refuse to separate the lovers even in the name of a balanced monitor, so now I need to figure out how to convince @youtooz and @CallofDuty to make a set with Price & Gaz for the other side.
Nobody outside of Twitter/Reddit has ever once mentioned SBMM to me in conversations about COD.
This is something that only resonates online for hate clicks.
Call of Dutys review access was on a prelaunch PC build of the game, though we could also see it on Switch 2 briefly if we wanted. Blame data miners if you want to be mad about this.

Guy jumps over a wall to land smack in the wide open center of a hot zone and is surprised he gets dropped by the enemy — who is also wide open — that he doesn't even aim at. And then posts the clip to Twitter like it proves anything other than his own shortcomings.

"I think I’ve just experienced the best Call of Duty ever."
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Modern Warfare 4 is the quintessential CoD experience. Beautiful, violent, endearing, and heartbreaking.
From a gut-wrenching campaign that is nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece to a thrilling DMZ mode and a well-rounded multiplayer that keeps things fresh, it might just be the best entry yet.
