Across Sudan, children continue to face deadly violence after more than three years of conflict.
UNICEF calls on all parties to the conflict to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law and protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. Children must be protected wherever they are, at all times.

An important step in strengthening UNICEF’s engagement with EAC. Thank you to the Secretary General for the continued partnership & congratulations Elke Wisch. Regional cooperation is essential to addressing shared challenges & advancing results for children across borders.
🤝Today, the EAC Secretary General, Amb. Stephen Mbundi received the Letter of Credence of Ms. Elke Wisch, UNICEF Representative to Tanzania, @UNICEFTanzania, accrediting her as UNICEF Representative to the EAC and reinforcing a partnership that is helping shape a more resilient and inclusive East Africa.
The engagement reaffirmed a shared commitment to improving the lives of children across East Africa through expanded cooperation in child rights and protection, neonatal mortality rates, humanitarian action, and disaster preparedness.
Discussions also advanced the renewal of the EAC–UNICEF MoU, which will provide a stronger and more comprehensive framework for joint action and greater impact across the region. UNICEF is also supporting the revision of the EAC Child Policy to ensure it remains responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities affecting children across the Community.
Together, the EAC and UNICEF are working to build a more resilient, inclusive and prosperous East Africa where every child is protected, empowered and given the opportunity to thrive.

UNICEF, in partnership with @ONARS_Djibouti, @c_obock, @CRDjibouti and @oim_djibouti, is strengthening access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation services for children and families living in Markazi refugee village in Obock.
Water storage tanks are being installed and emergency latrines constructed to improve reception conditions and reduce health risks for children and families arriving from #Yemen.
These facilities also benefit all people living on the site, including families already residing there, helping to create a safer, healthier and more dignified environment for everyone.

161M more children in Africa have safe drinking water than in 2000.
Today, only 40% use safely managed drinking water & an estimated 723 children under 5 die daily from WASH-related causes.

Asante Sana, H.E. President Ruto @WilliamsRuto for being a global voice on the impact of Debt on Children and for the clarion call on reforming global financing architecture that protects investment for children everywhere.
@UNICEF @ConilleGarry @SingoeiAKorir @KeTreasury @EvaUNICEF
We call for urgent reform of the international financial architecture so that debt does not come at the expense of children and their future.
Debt becomes a children’s rights issue when interest payments crowd out investment in classrooms, healthcare, nutrition and social protection. Fiscal responsibility must protect these foundations of future prosperity.
Kenya is pursuing responsible fiscal management and stronger domestic resource mobilisation while continuing to invest in our people. But national action must be matched by a global financing system that expands affordable and concessional finance, deploys guarantees and risk-sharing instruments to mobilise capital, resolves unsustainable debt faster and reduces dependence on debt.

Drone strikes on two warehouses in Sudan, on 20 September destroyed over 292,000 school textbooks, 40,000 Arabic Language and Mathematics Review Books, and other learning materials intended for distribution to children.
Education supplies and facilities must be safeguarded to ensure children can fulfill their right to education.
