Baptism and confirmations on Whitsunday 2024 at St Lawrence. Amazing solemn Te Deum at the end by the choir, too. It's great to see everything come together after so much hard work by different people.

Real cultural gulf with some countries/nationalities that don't get this is a very obvious sign of upper class behaviour (as opposed to being covered in the latest designer labels brazenly displayed).

An incompetent state outsources one of its major responsibilities to 'charities'. If the concept of 'charity' had not been distorted from 'doing good for others' into 'tax-reliefed activism' it would still be an awful idea. But in our current environment, this is giving the kids the keys to the sweet shop - and then giving them a box of matches and some kerosene, just for good measure.

From today, charities can apply to sponsor refugees through new, capped Named Community Sponsorship and Refugee study safe and legal routes. Sponsors will provide accommodation, integration support and help finding work. First arrivals are expected in autumn 2027.

This is an interesting one because I *loved* Skyfall when it first came out but I saw it again recently and was a bit underwhelmed. It does have some great moments though, especially M quoting Tennyson.

interesting that in many places bacon has become the default for an eggs benedict rather than ham. I assume it is because bacon is (1) cheaper and (2) is used elsewhere on the menu whereas ham is not
