Thank you everyone who has ordered a copy of my new novel, BIG APPLE BLOODBATH. It’s an action-thriller set in an alternate 1989 New York. Think if ENRON was run by the WATCHMEN. If you like Tarantino or Nolan movies, this is right up your alley. Get it here - rb.gy/n0lv5l
I had the honor of being invited to the Chinese Consulate in Chicago to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, where I was also honored to deliver a speech.

Western propagandists are working overtime to politicize a natural disaster and other people's pain as a political tool to spew China-bashing narratives.
Chongqing was subjected to a brutal indiscriminate bombing campaign by Imperial Japan during World War 2. Scores of civilians were killed as terror rained down from the skies for over 6 years. I visited this bomb shelter to see for myself what the people of Chongqing endured.
I saw this yesterday and LOVED it. One of the best Iraq War movies ever made. Very emotional film. I cried. 10/10 go see it!
Once Upon a Time in the Middle East is China’s hottest movie right now.
Based on a true story: a Chinese chef opens a restaurant in Iraq during the early 2000s war. He goes there just to make a living and pay off his debts. When the war breaks out, this ordinary guy ends up protecting children and the wounded in the middle of the rubble.
But it’s more than a survival story.
This is Chinese cinema finally telling the world’s stories through Chinese eyes — not just using foreign settings as backdrop for Chinese concerns.
Why do the world’s stories only come from Hollywood? Why can’t we compare different versions — the American soldiers’ “hero” narrative, or an ordinary Chinese cook making food for kids in the ruins?
For people in developing countries, it quietly raises questions that usually get ignored:
Whose bombs destroyed their homes?
Who actually wants them to stand on their own?
Art is never just art. What we see shapes how we understand the world. More voices mean a better chance of real and objective understanding.
The movie is not about “casting other nation as the invader”.
Just a different lens from Hollywood — showing the real suffering of ordinary people in war.
Worth watching.
Today is my birthday! I celebrated by watching my friend Lao Wang on the big screen. Absolutely go see ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE MIDDLE EAST! What a way to spend a birthday.
Nearly two years here advocating for better US/China relations, and what strikes me most is how few Americans I ever see. Understanding starts with a plane ticket. Too many form hard opinions from legacy media six thousand miles away instead of coming to see it.
He said Japan had nothing to apologize for.
Then history sent him back to meet his grandfather.
What he witnessed changed everything.
The most dangerous lies about history are the ones we tell ourselves.
