Landed that morning. Her birthday.
Both of us tired in that quiet way you only get after a long flight.
We put on kimono and walked into a garden that didn’t feel like a megacity at all. Roses. Pines. A pond. She smiled like the jet lag had already lost.
That night we went up and Tokyo opened under us. Streets like rivers of light. A blue tower in the middle of it all.
I thought: we just arrived.
The city thought: you’re already home.
First day. Her day. And somehow, love at first sight — not only with her in that pink kimono. With Tokyo itself.
