They move at the same pace. Then, King Cedric advances a few steps and stops beside one of the trees. Tsumugi stops. King Cedric (confidently): “Let me teach you how to pluck the pears.” A golden scepter shines in his hand. He raises his scepter and hits the tree once. Many pears fall to the ground. He points to a big, glowing pear before it touches the ground. King Cedric: “Go, bring this pear.” This pear looks unlike the other pears; it glows like a light bulb. The pears roll along a path between the trees. Tsumugi kneels down and starts rolling all the pears back toward the place where King Cedric stands. The path she crawls on looks like a black, shimmering fabric that makes up for the lack of streetlights. She finds a big pear broken into two pieces. She picks up the two pieces and tries to roll them back. But they don’t roll, so she leaves them. There are no more pears, so she gets up and walks. Here, the surface of the ground takes on the appearance of a dirt road with streetlights. She sees small shrubs. The big pear sits under one of them. She walks toward it and stretches out her hand to pick up the pear. #つむぎの物語
