Romain Gary describes the daily life of No 342 Sqn Lorraine in The Promise of Dawn. Charles Felix Pijeaud and Henri de Rancourt led the squadron, which would then take part in the landing in Normandy. No 342 Sqn became later 3/30 Lorraine equipped today with Rafale aircraft.

The Airmen of 1/2 Cigognes migratedย from North Africa toย Britain in January 1944. They joined RAF as No 329 Sqn Cigognes and No 345 Sqn Berry. They were involved in Operation Overlord. The two storks gathered once again after the war and form a prestigious active unit today.

Renรฉ Mouchotte was killed in action 80 years ago. Flight Cdr No. 340 Sqn Ile-de-France and Officer Commanding No. 341 Sqn Alsace , he is a symbol of the ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง camaraderie in the Air during WW2. 12 squadrons were enrolled in the RAF. This mini-serie is paying tribute to them.
