There will come a time late in the season when Barcelona get knocked out of the UCL in the most heartbreaking way possible because of defensive errors. And all the fans hyping this team up while ignoring the obvious problems will act like it came out of nowhere.
I’m seeing the 24/25 season all over again. I am still not moved untill they sign atleast 2 solid defenders in janaury.

Barça should either bring him back or sell him to Liverpool for at least €80M.
He has everything you want in a defender: physicality, pace, availability, and elite 1v1 ability. He’s the ideal defender for almost any team; he’s just not suited to Flick’s demonic high line.
He’s still exactly the type of defender you’d want at your club.
If a player doesn’t meet at least one of those three criteria you listed, he shouldn’t win the award at all, right?
Because if we’re applying that logic consistently, Ronaldo wouldn’t have even come close to sniffing that award.
How I would fix the Ballon d'Or:
- Ceremony at the end of July
It's a season based award so it makes no sense for it to be held in October when the new season has already began.
- Top 10 instead of top 30
30 nominees is way too much it just creates confusion and it feels like slop. The 10 best players of the season makes it more prestigious and easier to decide.
- Voting in the middle of the season and at the end
It's difficult for most people to remember performances form a 10 month period so have a vote in December/January and in June/July with the 2nd part of the season being double points or 1.5x.
- Clear criteria
It feels like everyone votes based on their own version of what the Ballon d'Or should be...
1. Eye test
2. Trophies/achievements
3. Importance for the team/big game performances
- Less voters
Have a selected amount of people who genuinely watch the games and are qualified to have a valuable opinion instead of random journalists from each country that watch 2 games a year.
If you had the attention span to read this, you are already more qualified than most people voting for this award right now ❤️
