Today, we celebrate Juneteenth! This national holiday recognizes the day enslaved people throughout the US were freed. Though the Emancipation Proclamation was effective in 1863, it wasn’t fully implemented until June 19, 1865. The CSI wishes you a happy Juneteenth!

Pride is about so much more than colors, parties, and rainbow attire. It is also about remembering those who paved the way like Marsha P. Johnson, standing in solidarity with those who are not able or are not comfortable with being out.
